Quality Time with the Family exists as both a single-channel video and a performance. As such, the artist attempts to communicate the same content in two different aesthetics.

Quality Time with the Family
Owen Eric Wood (Canada)
video, 2007, 5 min. 25 sec.
installation/performance, 60 min.

Feelings of isolation and alienation are expressed using documented footage of a family dinner. In the video, the line between documentary and fiction is blurred as it becomes clear that the video is closer to personal commentary than objective truth.

Performed at the Visionaria International Video Festival (Italy), the installation version of Quality Time with the Family consists of the artist performing his role at a mock dinner table setting where his family members are replaced by monitors playing videos of them eating.
