SCARVES
Fatima Fakih and Owen Eric Wood (Canada)
video, 2013, 16 min. 30 sec.

A group of non-Muslim women share their experiences trying on the Islamic headscarf (hijab) for the first time. Through the experience of this video, the participants and viewers are asked to reconsider their perceptions of this private and often misunderstood symbol of the Muslim faith.  By sharing this cultural artifact in a safe and creative situation, we open a dialogue and build a bridge between the Muslim and non-Muslim communities.
